The Wide-eyed Look:

Audrey Hepburn and Sophia Loren were two women who carried off this look really well, each in their own unique way. While Hepburn had that waif-ish thing going for her, Loren sizzled it all the way in to men’s hearts.

The wide-eyed look has to do with eyelashes, no doubt about it. But the modern version can be accomplished just as well with fake ones or with a little help from cosmetic surgery. J.Lo and Madonna have been patrons of this look on and off with Madge even getting herself furry lashes!

Before eyelash extensions came along, the eyelash curler was the primary succor for women wanting this very diva look. It is still used by numerous make-up artists and women for holding, pulling and shaping even non-glamorous lashes into drool-worthy lashes.

A few years back, American plastic surgeons came up with a technique to lengthen and thicken existing eyelashes with the eyelash transplant procedure. The invasive cosmetic surgery worked on similar principles as hair transplants and grafted hair from the scalp onto the upper eyelids.

A similar procedure is used for adding volume to the eyebrows and is sometimes included in this cosmetic surgery which was initially developed to treat burn victims and patients with congenital problems.

At the Plastic Surgery Institute of California we offer non-invasive eyelash enhancing treatments like eye lash tints, eye lash perms, eye lash extensions and even a refill for eye lash extensions. These cosmetic treatments are completely safe and are addressed by certified cosmetologists.
